Beautiful Creamy Bridal Bouquet

Hooray! It’s Wedding Wednesday! If you haven’t caught on yet, we’ve been sharing a wedding something almost every week for a few months now. We have the pleasure of designing wedding flowers for at least one happy couple every week at the shops; how could we possibly keep them all to ourselves!?!

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bridal bouquet is soft, elegant, pretty, and with its creamy neutral colors it’s well suited to many brides and many wedding themes, from the shabby chic to the classically elegant. This clutch bouquet was created with ivory and cream (almost peach) roses with velvety soft dusty miller. The foliage textures are further layered into the bouquet with seeded eucalyptus and feathery looking plumosa.

Flowers for the Haute Couture Bride

Sorry we missed you last week… Thanksgiving was wonderfully busy at the flower shop and by the time we realized it was Wedding Wednesday it was practically Thursday! Hope you missed us!

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bridal bouquet is a shop stopper; big, beautiful, exotic, and dramatic. Lovely pink ginger arc across the top of the bouquet, nestled behind birds of paradise, with their orange and blue crowns fanning out in colorful display. Hot pink roses are gathered in the front of the bouquet with a pop of purple statice at their center. Pouring from the roses is a flowing cascade of burgundy hanging amaranthus and a few stems of yellow solidego flair out to the side for another pop of color. A forest of foliage finishes the bouquet including plumosa, looped Ti leaves, sprays of lily grass and loops of braided emerald palm. We definitely think this unique bouquet belongs in our floral haute couture collection.

Opulent Bridal Clutch Bouquet

This bridal bouquet is so classically beautiful, we can’t believe it took us this long to blog about it! We created this lovely clutch bouquet for a bride with very particular taste and a generous budget a few years ago.

When we think of high-end wedding flowers, lilies, roses, orchids and stephanotis instantly come to mind and this bouquet has a generous gathering of all four of these floral riches. This week’s Wedding Wednesday bouquet is certainly opulent.

We choose the finest white Casablanca lilies, white Eskimo roses, and green cymbidium orchids for this bouquet and finished it with fragrant stephanotis with pearled centers for an extra bit of wedding romance.

Romantic Red Bridal Bouquet

It’s Wedding Wednesday again!! This week’s bouquet is a clutch of romantically red blooms. Red gerbera daisies and red roses with pearled centers are accented by variegated pittosporum and feathery soft plumosa.

We love the elegance of the pearls juxtaposed to the fun nature of the gerbera daisies.

Beautiful in Blue Bridal Bouquet

It’s Wedding Wednesday again!! This week’s bouquet has a definite WOW impact and these bold blue roses are for a bride equally as bold.

Our bouquet of blue roses stands alone, without any accent flowers, and just a simple collar of variegated pittosporum to make the blue really pop, not that it needs much help. Blue roses have been a favorite of our customers for as many years as we’ve carried them, with good reason, blue is statistically the favorite color of more people than any other color!

This bouquet is beautiful year-round, is especially lovely for an icy blue wedding theme and definitely covers the “something blue” in your wedding collection.

Blue is all around us, it’s nature’s color for ocean and sky and some of us wear it almost daily from our casual denim to our blue business suits. This bouquet left our bride feeling anything but blue on her big day!

A Single Rose

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bouquet is super simple, but still romantic and sweet.

Known as “the bridal flower,” the white rose is said to symbolize the new and pure bond of two people. The white rose signifies a bride's worth, innocence and loyalty to her husband whether the rose is part of a bouquet or standing alone. And, of course all roses, no matter the color, symbolize love.

We’ve accented our single rose with some long blades of lily grass and a generous cluster of seeded eucalyptus with a champagne bow. This bouquet is also perfect for the budget conscious bride, a single rose isn’t just elegant, but affordable too!

Blue Hydrangea on Wedding Wednesday

Happy Wedding Wednesday!! This is starting to become our favorite day of the week...

This week's Wedding Wednesday bouquet is simple and dramatic at the same time. The only flower is this bouquet is blue hydrangea, which would certainly covers your something blue.

Six stems of blue hydrangea are gathered tightly and are surrounded by a nest of silver wires with more delicate silver wires forming a cage over the top of the blooms. The stems are wrapped in a pewter satin with two long streamers of ribbon cascading down the front with long strands of silver wire adorned with dainty metal leaves and clear crystals for drama.

This bouquet isn't for every bride, but if it's for you we promise that it won't be one that your guests will soon forget!

We love that in the floral industry everyone is our customer. People from all cultures, backgrounds and walks of life enjoy the beauty of flowers and incorporate them into their lives.

We’ve had the recent pleasure of working with more of our kin from the Indian community. Their culture is rich and beautiful and flowers charmingly represent the country’s unity in the form of diversity, liveliness and generosity.

A single flower or a bunch of flowers can gladden the mind and confer prosperity. In various Indian traditions flowers have been associated with the Creator, religion, worship and with innumerable myths and legends across history. Similarly, flowers have forever remained an integral part of everyday life and culture.

We embraced the beauty of India and the fun of the Bollywood movie scene in some of our recent floral designs. We strive to represent all cultural communities in our work and love the wonderful opportunities we are granted to share our designs with the world!

We adorned our lovely model with flowers for her hair and wrist. We choose colorful assorted blooms to represent the fun and levity associated with Bollywood films.

The brightly colored sari she’s wearing, as well as, the blue sari with strands of 14 karat gold spun through it that is draped over the small table, were both given to us by a customer who had traveled to India.

Her jewelry is authentic Indian jewelry, for sale in our stores, that was brought to us from India by the owner of one of our neighboring businesses when he traveled home to visit family.

We filled our pretty peacock pottery with stock flowers, liatris, spray roses, stargazer lilies, iris, tuberose and delphinium with a tail of peacock feathers. In Hindu mythology the peacock is a sacred bird, known as Mayura, and is associated with a number of gods and deities.

We look forward to continuing to work with our diverse community and learning more about the world’s cultures and their beauty.

A Petal for Every Wedding Season

So you’ve chosen the date, the venue and the dresses; you know what colors you like, the wedding theme, and the tone you want to set… and now for the flowers. With thousands of varieties and colors available, choosing the proper blooms can seem like a daunting task. Luckily, your local florist is an expert in this arena. At Stein Your Florist Co. we have been assisting brides in these careful decisions for 125 years and our first bit of advice is always the same, choose what you love. Sometimes this is easily accomplished, many popular blooms are available year round, while others are a bit more season specific. It is never impossible to procure out of season flowers, they may be specially grown just for you; however, seasonal flora is typically less expensive and of better quality.

Florists import flowers from around the world, acquiring much of their inventory from South America, California, Hawaii, Holland, Asia, and Africa granting a bevy of beautiful blooms in all seasons. Among the most popular are roses, many varieties of lilies, alstroemeria, bouvardia, carnations, chrysanthemums, freesia, gardenias, snapdragon, stock, gerbera daisies, liatris, iris, lisianthus, stephanotis (a wedding classic), veronica, many varieties of orchids, and tropicals, such as ginger, birds of paradise and protea. These seasonless standbys combined or standing alone create stunning bouquets, centerpieces and venue décor for your wedding day. Consider your colors and theme and have fun designing your dream wedding.

If incorporating the season’s blooms is something you’d like or if the everyday flora just isn’t your scene, then consider the time of year and spice up your wedding bouquets with the finest flowers of the fields. Winter lays claim to stunning amaryllis, asters, daffodils, Dutch, French and Parrot tulips, hyacinths, poinsettias, ranunculus and sweet pea. Much of this flora may sound Springy (especially tulips, hyacinths and daffodils) since we associate them with Easter, but as soon as Spring hits it is simply too warm for these delicate blossoms, but they create a perfect combination for March weddings on the cusp of Spring. Following the vernal equinox we are offered beautiful anemone varieties, lily of the valley, peonies, Queen Anne’s lace, and scabiosa. These flowers offer a wonderfully rich garden feel to your Spring wedding. Summer brings cockscomb, cornflower, dahlias, and zinnias. Summer blooms are often very bright and fun, they lend a carefree hippie vibe to your otherwise formal wedding. Finally, Fall flora brings us a palette of rusts, reds, oranges, and terra cottas mirroring the trees’ metamorphosis. Summer’s tuberose remains and anemones of a different variety return, with camellia and cosmos. Autumn weddings have a welcoming affect, greeting your guests with a blanket of warm colors and boasting a bountiful harvest.

Your bouquet is your star accessory and one of the first things your guests will notice as you enter your ceremony, it will be in most of your photos and even get its own close up shot. Take time to consider your bouquet and work with your florist to create the perfect combination of blooms. No matter what you chose, the stunning beauty of flowers is always in season.

Totally Tangerine

Last wedding season, purple and pewter were all the rage. We were designing wedding bouquets in violets, eggplants, aubergines, and pretty much every shade of purple you can think of almost every weekend. Well this year's color trend is tangerine! Pantone announced its hot colors for 2012 and Tangerine Tango is number one. They say that it's a "bright and encouraging color" and we agree. Whether you choose tangerine dresses, flower, or both it will certainly pop and add an element of excitement to your day. We also love it for everyday wardrobe, it's cheerful and fun. And don't forget home decor; it's a great color to jazz up a room. This year we are in love with all things tangerine!

Several flowers are available in shades of tangerine, including lilies, roses, dahlias, gerbera daisies, marigolds, calla lilies, tulips and orchids. Most are available year round, while others, like marigolds and dahlias are more readily available in the Summer months. We've gathered some photos of some of our favorite uses of pretty petals in tangerine.

A tight clutch bouquet designed in bright tangerine roses and lilies are bold and beautiful. Carrying this bouquet against black makes it pop in a big way, making a wedding colorful and fun.

If tangerine is appealing to you, but a bit too bright, try cooling it down with turquoise. Roses, tulips, pin cushion protea, celosia, and mokara orchids are calmed by this pool-colored cube, creating a beautiful centerpiece.

Adding light greens to your tangerine has a very fresh feeling, especially with the floces of fresh fruit. This arrangement is perfect for a bar, card table or buffet.

Tangerine also pairs beautifully with hot pink. Just check out the pretty way it accents these chair covers!

Pinks lend a garden feel to this centerpiece. Garden style is another popular trend amongst brides, and for good reason. It is elegant without being stuffy, classy but casual. The pink tones down the intensity of all that orange.

Adding in light green keeps it very fresh and Springy looking as in these two bouquets.

We also like adding a bit of contrasting purpley-blue, like in this bouquet of roses and birds of paradise with touches of statice. The trailing bear grass draws the eye down the length of the gown.

Or throw some yellow into the mix for some extra fun. And it's perfect if you're going tropical! Even small touches of tangerine go a long way, grabbing attention.

If you're more traditional, don't totally write off tangerine just yet. This bouquet of calla liliea, cymbidium orchids, stock flower and roses simply breathes traditional wedding elegance with its creamy ivories. With a mix like this you can be classic and customary while still being totally trendy!

While tangerine is a bit bright, it still works wonderfully for Fall weddings too. Adding other warm Autumn hues, like burgundies and cinnamons carry us right into October and November. We designed this bouquet in all roses with textural accents of hypericum berries, solidego and oak leaves to capture the season.

Accents of plum dahlias in this bouquet bring extra warmth and depth. And the copper wire nests the blooms beautifully.

Don't forget the groom! He'll look great in tangerine too. This fun polka dot tie is adorable! Roses are always a beautiful choice for his boutonniere, but we love the look of this dahlia.

Not getting married or throwing a party this year? That's ok, you can still enjoy tangerine too. We love these living rooms, bright, bold and saturated with tangerine. Add a little or a lot; go wild and paint the walls or just add a few throw pillows. It's always nice to redecorate and refresh your home. Add some tangerine to your wardrobe too. Add a silk tangerine scarf to compliment your blazer or a bold tangerine cardigan over an aqua colored cami. Tangerine is a fun color, so have fun with it.

Not ready to make the commitment to tangerine? Just pick up a few fresh blooms and take it for a spin, you won't be sorry.
